It seems especially egregious this year. Felt like almost every AAA announcement was a Souls clone, open world samurai RPG, or first person shooter lol

I was not super excited for that one until I saw it was made by Mossmouth. I've got 300+ hours in Spelunky 2, so I trust them to make good games. Now I can't wait!
