Wrights had a great game so far... If he could do more of this he'd be getting that production but he's rarely been this effective.

Musovski just felt like he did a ton of little things to really help and positive effect the possession and movement around the 18. Crazy how much G+ loved him.

Just messing around with net g+ and g- for CBs/DMs in MLS and look what I found in the top-10 of per96. Apparently Jackson Regan and Cristian Roldan are actually pretty good.

Top-5 strikers in MLS according to @americansocceranalysis.com xG.

What an absolute absurd career. I'll link a picture of his teams from Wikipedia below but that doesn't even really cover the back and forth rollercoasting of back-up and then starter and then back-up and then starter and then a journey abroad? Good for him.

Really not in any way a real record but for ASA's record book Acosta has the chance to make up some serious ground on Valeri to be tops in the database. Not only that but another season with 23+ xG+xA would put him in the lead. Cool stuff.

I wonder if he'll stay all season.

He forgot a few times that we don't record video but if you're looking for him, @armankafai.bsky.social will be at ASI and he was an amazing Guest for our podcast tonight.

Yeah, I think that's a very good guess. You have before July, 2023 and then after July, 2023

Another comp, from FBref, is Luca Orellano who was a huge difference maker this season for Cincinnati. Obviously, Orellano is a special player with a very explosive skillset and played really all over the field for FCC but you can see the shape of the events and the how similar they are.

An interesting comp I want to look at ,as their former teammates and for some reason been paired in my mind, is Julian Gressel.

Obviously they played different positions in '24 but had similar profiles in those positions, Gressel has always been a bit more successful largely due to his pass skill.

There are some things to like about what Arriola does *on* the field. He's a high event type of player and so with that there are going to be a lot of ups and downs with a stat such as G+ for this type of player.
December 12, 2024 at 6:05 AM
There are some interesting things when you compare the two. They're both very different players but I'd be interested in either two as a kind of reclamation projection... Not sure if Ebobisse has any interest in coming to Seattle though.

11 seasons, 2005-2016... 1st in innings pitched, 1st in total strike outs, 2nd in games started, 2nd in WAR, 3rd in xFIP among starters with 1500 innings, like... it goes on and on. I get his fall off but just this decade of time alone is good enough to get him into the HOF.

I realize that Fafa Picault is 33 but he was still very good this past year. He's at worst case an awesome super sub on an MLS cup contender and at best case a starter on a playoff caliber team...
November 27, 2024 at 9:47 PM
Torres himself was 12th in receiving G+ among wingers just trailing some big notable names in 2024. But he lost much of that value via bad dribbles and possession... he is exciting to watch but needs to be more consistency in other areas of his game if he wants to reach the next level
