Ending the two-child benefit cap will help hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty including nearly 5,000 children in Huddersfield.

Labour has a long history of tackling child poverty, and I am so proud that we have delivered on our commitment to do so again for the next generation.

❄️Freezing train ticket prices ❄️

For the first time in over 30 years, the Government is freezing train ticket prices for next year.

This is good news for local commuters in Huddersfield and will keep more money in people’s pockets.

Today, I pressed the Transport Secretary on ensuring the Transpennine Route Upgrade delivers real economic and social benefits for Huddersfield.

I know residents have faced disruption due to these upgrades but I welcome the Secretary of State setting how the investment will deliver for our town.

Yesterday, I hosted a roundtable in Parliament alongside Forget Me Not Children's Hospice CEO and local MPs.

I know how important this issue is to constituents and I will continue to do all I can to ensure that our local hospices receive the sustainable support they need.

I was delighted to attend The Kirkwood for the handover of funds raised by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK at their recent Holi celebrations. It was a privilege to meet those involved and to celebrate contributions being made to such a meaningful cause.

In an interview with Channel 4, I spoke about how homeowners have been left with huge debts after their homes were fitted with faulty cavity wall insulation and were then left paying fees when legal firms who were supposed to represent them went bust.

It was great to meet the @cancerresearchuk.org team to discuss some of the breakthroughs in treatment made possible thanks to Cancer Research UK.

It was also great to discuss Labour's National Cancer Plan, which will place research and innovation at its heart.

Really pleased to see this Labour Government investing in train young people for skilled jobs

I recently visited the Brunel Centre for Construction and Engineering centre at Kirklees College and saw the fantastic hands-on training they’re providing for the next generation of skilled trade workers.

I was delighted to host my second MP coffee morning in Netherton. A huge thank you to all the residents that attended and Kirklees Council Leader, Cllr Carole Pattison for joining us.

It was also great to welcome back the Huddersfield University health team, who provided free health checks.

What a delight it was to attend a Church service at the New Testament Church of God in Huddersfield.

The service was filled with joy and the theme included connecting with God and our communities.
