Jacques Demy is someone who makes movies that are just astounding. How are movies allowed to look this beautiful, and if he did it back in the 60s, why are people not doing it as much now?? I think if you haven’t watched Donkey Skin you should 100% give it a go if you love fairy tales and fantasy

Kelly Reichardt is a profoundly talented filmmaker who’s been around for a while but I didn’t discover til I got more seriously invested in movies! She really gets people and the reliance we have on each other, and the struggles that come from that in contemporary American life.

Park Chan-Wook is a filmmaker I discovered a few years ago and is back this year with a new film! His films are usually pretty upsetting but after the initial shock washes over you you realize what you saw was so so rich and great. Here are three of my faves from him

“La Chimera” is one of my favorite movies to come out in this decade so far. A sublime example of magical realism and love of archaeology and life. It gets better with every rewatch, check it out if you haven’t yet!!!
