There used to be a comic book magazine called Wizard, and a music magazine called CMJ New Music Monthly, and Entertainment Weekly that would tell about upcoming films. All these things are gone. Now any new book, comic, CD, or movie is a pig in a poke.

I used to be in the Quality Paperback Book Club. Every four weeks I would get a mini-catalog of new and interesting books. Most of them I didn't buy - but I became familiar with the titles and their authors, and might pick them up in a store later.

Nothing Trump has done shocks or surprises me, all of it was expected. But I thought there would be some resistance from businesses, from institutions, from the Democratic party. All have rolled over, complied in advance, and done everything to please the mad king, to avoid his disfavor.
