Knowing a character dies doesn't really change how you view them and their actions through your initial viewing/reading/whatever - but being aware of something like that actively does, and takes a fair bit out of the value of a second watch/read/play etc. And yet it's always about character death!

What's frustrating is that large parts of this conversation are about 'this character dies' spoilers which, really, are just A Story Beat. Even if it's abrupt or shocking, that's kind of just one thing - the spoilers that *actually* suck are always like 'character was secretly evil the whole time'
