Choosing something to learn about every month is a very good method, I couldn't replicate that myself, too weak to resist the whims of my hyperfocus-demons, but I'm getting laid off and sitting through about six months of notice without work soon so maybe I'll take the opportunity to try it!

Hah, I just have the ADD but that sure shows in my online habits as well, bluesky in particular suits me well as it still enforces short form posts and people here are still mostly about actual communication and not fronts for click/impression-mills.

Interesting, i have a feeling there's a lot of interesting correlations to be observed since bluesky has had quite distinct growth phases such as twitter-sick early adopters, Brazilian takeover, waves of US politicians bringing fans along etc.

I'm curious how the sentiment analysis works, seems like a nontrivial thing to do at such speeds?

Just guessing but they might have made games, gamers hate when they do that.

Wife of the mayor of a city that has a larger population than many countries not allowed to wear boots that cost less than a new iphone, to a formal event.

Cannot represent working class if you enjoy the fruits of your labour, faking poverty is the best way to respect your voters.

Put a hundred hours or so into 76 in 2024 and really did not experience any real bugs that I remember. Improved a lot since launch. Hard to compare to 1 or 2 but it's so good now i don't see my self replaying 3, Vegas or 4 (possible 4 VR) any more times. My favorite at this point.

There are two interpretations of why the mom has to do everything - unhelpful partner *or* partner who legitimately does not want this. Either me or my partner suggesting to the other anything involving hiring a photographer or putting our kids face into AI would both lead to a Serious Discussion.

And when you have the camera you don't need to worry about staging and bookings, you can just snap lots of great moments and capture whatever specific moments you all happen to be dressed up anyway.
December 26, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Very interested that they argue for how much work there is for the mom, etc, but still seem to see it as a comparison of hiring a photographer vs AI. But, true fact, you can just buy a decent used DSLR and take fucking amazing photos with zero experience as a photographer.

Same as the argument for anything else- for people who not only do not mind something being fake but seem to prefer it, an AI version is as good or better. It's a bit dark though that they don't want to just replace the human taking the picture with AI, but themselves as subjects as well.

This bird looks like it has been assembled from at least two completely unrelated birds

A lot of people saying to rage against the dying of the light. Me? I like to go gently. I'm a go gently kind of guy, always was. All those rage guys, what are they afraid of? It's literally the good night, that's what they call it. People get upset about the dying of the light, but darkness is fine.

Yeah but they can release two games in the same time though? Look at every time Skyrim was released and tell me more regular actual new releases wouldn't sell due to competition from bigger projects!
December 15, 2025 at 9:08 AM
My experience both at university and in 14 years before that working with and around people in "regular" jobs is that people are just bursting with ideas and dreams and the the only thing holding them back is time and resources, with time increasingly being wasted on navigating everyday life.

Actually, small note- the author does seem to argue that there needs to be a due process for firing where unions etc are involved. I agree. Doubt that would change the outcome here, there is a difference between poor manners with customers and literally harassing them.
December 13, 2025 at 8:14 AM
Look obviously there's more serious things being discussed here but more *caramel* on a *pecan* cinnamon roll? It sounds delicious but at some point we gotta be able to admit that's just not a cinnamon roll anymore.

But yeah, morally unforgivable is of course weaker than the game of capitalism

This person is saying that racism is the price we have to pay for socialism, and that an employee's right to act racist against customers is something the employer should have to protect?

???

"What up fellow socialists, shame about the racism huh, but we all agree it's fair and necessary right??"

I guess what I mean to say is that books can be dangerous too, to the naive mind. I enjoyed Atlas shrugged when i was like 17, it spoke to me for some reason. Reread it mid-twenties and felt some sort of mild panic, wondering how much I might have let it infect me. I'm more careful these days.

Books can either help you understand the world and yourself, or they can lead you to try to understand a world that only ever existed in some authors imagination. And I don't just mean fiction- many people try to write their opinions into existence and trap you in conflict with what you see IRL.
December 10, 2025 at 2:08 PM
I absolutely devoured books until around 25, slowed down significantly after that as I had less time and energy. Taking more of an interest in people around me and the society I live in changed me a lot, theory and fiction blinds you to the reality of human experience and struggle sometimes.

∀x(Px) ⇔ ¬∃x(¬Px)

¬∀x(Px) ⇔ ∃x(¬Px)

¬∃x(Px) ⇔ ∀x(¬Px)

The first one says all print jobs are finished, the second one says not all print jobs are finished, the third one says no print jobs are finished.

They need more logic in their lives. The all quantifier in logic is typically dual with the negation of the existence quantifier for the negation of the same sentence. So if x is the variable for print jobs and P is 'finished'

∀x(Px) ⇔ ¬∃x(¬Px)

¬∀x(Px) ⇔ ∃x(¬Px)

¬∃x(Px) ⇔ ∀x(¬Px)
