There is rarely going to be anenxact tut for what you want, you build up to it finding the right tuts you need for the skills you need, this is kinda what school Is supposed to teach you, how to make your own curriculum when you want to learn something

I tried to use physics for two days (the jump with the ramps works) but the car was always slightly off from the camera, (prob couldve worked animating physics values like downforce) finally switched to using curves lol

His argument is supporting multiple now required, arent des dropping x11 support tho so they are only supporting wayland?

But yeah the reason I reccomend cachyos is because it has a very self explanatory installer with hella options so you can try a bunch of des and reinstall, the usb itself launches with kde plasma to test out.

The ones i mentioned are window managers, working how you expect windows on a computer to work, there are also tiling managers which frame everything like tiles instead of overlaying windows, they all autoresize to fit next to each other, its also keyboard/shortcut based, can use without a mouse

Rather than ubuntu, mint, etc. being the equivalent of windows, mac, etc. it's more seperated than that, like you can get the exact same apps, appearance, etc. using any linux distro, what matters is the de, kde plasma is customizable windows, gnome is like chromeos+mac, cinnamon is like windows7+

Just watch one or 2 10 minute youtube vids, it's just confusing when you don't know the terms, basically linux is the backend, distros decide how you get packages and update stuff, DE (Desktop environment) kde, gnome decides the look of your desktop, you can use a computer without a de just terminal
August 16, 2025 at 10:10 PM
In the end DE is what matters, distro just decides how you get packages, get mint if you want cinnamon DE, not the most customizable tho, I like cachyos for gaming and because it had like 13+ DE options including cinnamon, tried kde plasma, gnome, cinnamon, hyprland, etc.

it's easier than windows and like 10x faster, if you have a decent usb, depending on the disto you can test it off the installer itself, like cachyos usb you can play around with kde, install whatever and try it out, just will be slow because it's off a usb

And that launcher is literally just installing a launcher lol but yeah linux isnt for ppl who cant read a paragraph, wouldnt reccomend
August 15, 2025 at 3:35 AM
in the post it says all you do is launch It through steam
August 15, 2025 at 3:34 AM
It works with proton on steam? that is the default of any gaming distro (all they do is install gaming packages like steam and proton) www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comm... You may be assuming it's more complicated than copy and pasting paru -S xivlauncher-git (if on cachyos) or launching it on steam

Did I ask for evangelism? No I did fucking not. And I live with someone who does love and can administer all forms of unix, and has a particular love for BSD. IT IS GREAT.

stop being a missionary. It is rude.

Buddy you are making a blanket claim and telling the public that linux is terrible and doesn't work when in my experience it works better than windows, obviously if I see someone saying something completely invalid I will correct them
August 15, 2025 at 2:32 AM
and it dynamically resizes, main reason to use it, dont have to commit to a parition size and deal with that (only needed for adobe and microsoft products, stuff with no linux version, same as a vm only 5% overhead)
