It was also around this time that the small businesses that the underground had so lovingly nurtured - record labels, screen-printing services, band bookers, et al. - began to run themselves like monopolies, resulting in a chilling effect. You couldn't possibly call out that one alternative record store in town for underpaying its staff because its very monopoly transpired in a rhizomatic structure that operated like a corporate leadership structure: my friend works there, my band's records are stocked there, my other friend has done artwork for them, et cetera. I have participated in conversations where someone sees the truth of what I'm saying yet they cannot agree with it due to some kind of personal investment involved, usually to do with social or financial capital. There remains the impression that the entire ecosystem may very well collapse if anything is put under too harsh a scrutiny; the most important thing is that these businesses are 'keeping the scene alive', their owners' capital providing a backbone for the internal economy to continue functioning as planned. The alternative seemed too unknown, too scary; there was absolutely no way we were going to risk being even a tiny bit responsible for destroying our precious havens, and more so if there wasn't a large enough consensus.

In the ambiguous anticapitalism of fascism, abstinence from modernity is a political and spiritual dharma. Penance for the sin of partaking in modernity is starvation; the torture of Instagram feeds littered with plus-sized models sipping soy lattes can only be cleansed by posting BMI calculator app screenshots looking for validation in the dangerous starvation game. Modern men love fat women; the legendary Bronze Age Pervert prefers to not even comment on the bodies of modern women. The great warriors of online fear and loathe modernity in the same way their ideological ancestors did. They both harbor a special hatred for the modern woman, the woman they see as turned away from the truths of nature. The female body is the smallest unit of political control, so why not control it?

nope. it's html. it's all html that i took screenshots of. i keep making single-use websites for mockups and no-one can stop me

New Feature:
- Select text colour for accented buttons (i.e. New Post, Follow): choose between Text or Background colours. Should help with contrast/readability.

Fixes:
- Repost button not turning green after reposting on bsky Dark mode
- 'Drop to add images' pop-up opacity
new setting in firmament v1.0.1 that allows you to pick your accent text to be the same as your theme's text or its background example of a button with bad contrast the button with bad contrast now has better contrast :)

ive made it so pre-built themes can be easily selected from a drop down menu... but the default setting is still the one where you can pick your own colours. new firmament colour palettes also override light/dark settings entirely bc i figure most people stick to one or the other anyway

been having the music/games 'industry' parallel on the mind all the way through games week, and that always leads back to me thinking about steve albini being essentially my standard for the kind of person i want to be in a scene/community. heres a little something from a reddit ama he did ages ago
Connections don't mean shit. I've never had any connections that weren't a natural outgrowth of doing things I was doing anyway. Additionally, the people you might make connections with who work in the industry and value connections themselves, all those people are clueless assholes with no clout anyhow. You can tell because they think they can get somewhere with connections and spend their energy trying to make connections rather than being good at things, and being good at things is the only thing that earns you clout or connections. It's a myth that you can get anywhere in music through connections. The guy on the other end of the connection has to be into what you're doing, and if you're doing it publicly and he's receptive, he probably hears about it on his own. Don't worry about anything but making music you like. Everything else is bullshit.
