My half a week off of work and school was fun but nowhere near enough. I have a new tradition, and it is reading @catherineryanhyde.bsky.social's new book each November over my break. This is a beautifully sensitive story about addiction, mental health and how people can heal each other.

Rest well, Jane Goodall. She was a pioneer in our understanding that animals and people were not so far apart, that we could form meaningful relationships. Whether that was helping them, or understanding compassion, her work bettered us all.

Today is officially the first day of fall and the Autumnal Equinox! I am looking forward to a change of season, change of color. (Some of us might be looking forward to the baseball playoffs, who knows?)

Happy Labor Day! I am the proud child of a union member. It provided a nice, middle-class life for us with not only a sustainable wage but wonderful health insurance.

This monster who likened children to animals, beat an innocent dog, promoted hatred against LGBT individuals, taught parents to abuse their children because it was "love" all while amassing political capital is not able to harm others anymore. The world is a safer place today.

Time to head on out to your favorite Goodwill, it's National Thrift Store Day! I enjoy going to the ones around here, you can get some really nice stuff, good books, things for the house for a few dollars.
