I started my military service as a WAC for about 6 months, but I remember one Major telling us to choose the foxhole to die in.
I came close once, and it was a horrific experience

To refuse an illegal order is drummed into you, starting with your first ethics lesson. I'm proud of our prior service members for stating it.
Just remember how hard it is for our junior enlisted and officers if their superiors aren't as ethical.
