A preview for my piece in the nsfw half of the Martingale Zine: "It could be the whiskey, or the warm breath against his skin. Maybe it’s those hands and the care with which they piece Aventurine together, or something else entirely. Something that slowly, steadily burns low in his stomach—a quiet ache that slips out as a soft, involuntary sound. Ratio’s voice cuts through the haze. “Does it hurt?” Yes. “No,” Aventurine grits out. While Ratio’s presence is a welcome distraction from the sting of his injuries, it only amplifies a different, more profound pain. It digs deeper, a hollow ache sinking its claws into his soul, unwilling to relent. What truly hurts is this; sitting mere breaths apart, skin brushing skin, so close, yet so impossibly far from what he truly wants."
