New game! This ain’t even poker, ya Joker, by solo dev Mash

It’s incremental game where you can gamble for insanely OP cards, extend your hand size to 7, use 9 decks at once, tons of crazy stuff

And there’s a demo, out now! Number go big!!
(we signed a week ago and launching in a couple weeks lol)

It's great!

For my horror game and mixed-media lovers out there, the FIRST demo for Dead Format is now available to play!

Use illegal VHS tapes to venture through iconic film eras.

By the one and only @katanalevy.bsky.social, it's truly something wonderful. Give it a try 📼

We just hit 100K wishlists for Roadside Research, our upcoming "very human" gas station simulator

crazy stuff :)

Our reasoning was
- enter SNF with a proven demo to see if it impacts players
- prep a beat prior on our own time
- do a campaign during a less busy period

(tinfoil hat) I THINK it worked out. When June rolled around we had patched the game and people liked it

and less stress!!
June 17, 2025 at 8:35 AM
There is some good news though, as SNF can bring in new players if you have a demo worth other people's time, and you know it's fun / validated

Interestingly enough Easy Delivery Co. is one of the few games where demo ccu actually increased during the fest + we got new feedback
June 17, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Organizing your entire demo reveal beat sounds incredibly stressful considering the fact that hundreds of others are doing the same

(+ the games in the top charts are mostly expensive af)

Good luck facing off against bilibili, ubisoft, devolver, kwalee for attention
June 17, 2025 at 8:35 AM
There's a common misconception that Next Fest will inherently provide players to your game demo, but with 2000 other games in the mix - it's hard to stand out (duh)

This just means that SNF is not a dependable discovery opp anymore, and that's ok!

thanks for this @hanney.bsky.social 💕

Is Steam Next Fest a visibility opportunity for any participating game? Not really

We went in with Easy Delivery Co. floating around 105.000 wishlists, and we didn't organize any major beat around the June edition (demo launched back in April)

Some of our reasoning..

Use illegal video tapes to dive into four different eras of cinema in search of your missing brother in Dead Format

This is the silent era environment
June 12, 2025 at 7:32 AM
it's the promo art that is displayed from each game, of which there are 4-5 varying sizes

I keep a folder with capsules I like from browsing Steam

here are some of the recent ones I've enjoyed :)

And even after all SGF showcases and events surrounding it, Roadside Research is still in the top 100 trending games on Steam

crazy!

Even accounts with no prior traction or large following can reach new heights with the right video
June 9, 2025 at 2:46 PM
A mix of multiplayer sim + twist was the goal from the start. After Order 13, Cybernetic knew they could pull off a good quality sim experience

A lot of games have been making waves in this space, so why not give it our own shot.

Result?
June 9, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Cybernetic Walrus have been developing the game for 2 months now, and limiting scope on what the trailer would show was vital to make it on time

All videos are taken in the same environment, with some cinematic shots taken by the dev team for a really polished feel
June 9, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Stijn made an insanely engaging trailer. We storyboarded a format following popular "interview" style trends that were popping off on TT & IG, which also harkens back to The Office, Parks & Rec, etc

This is a very US-centric game after all, so why not lean into it all the way
June 9, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Our timing was tight, we started preparing for the reveal in May.

We opted to reveal the game on June 3rd, one day before all the showcases and streams would kick off.

This meant that press, creators, and socials would be less bloated than the days to come.
June 9, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Roadside Research reaches 60.000 wishlists in just 1 week! Without any showcases or SGF craze.

The game has garnered over 10 million views on social media videos and it seems we're off to a great start with the game.

Here's how we planned the reveal
