I vote that the specific dance move in #Wicked /For Good be referred to as the "elphabow".
a man and a woman are dancing in front of a wall of lights
Alt: A scene from Wicked: For Good showing The Wizard, Elphaba, and Glinda dancing in the throne room in front of the giant Oz head with dance-club like rainbow lights chasing around the room.

So I don't have a major roach problem, but I think the adjoining apartment does since I see them occasionally in my sink, likely coming up the drain. I put down some baits that are to "kill the nest" and it was so weird to see a roach and be like "Yessss, welcome in! Eat all you want and carry out!"

Single-old-man life hack: I have stretchy Purple sheets which are sometimes clingy and difficult to extricate one’s self from. Last night I discovered instead of getting under the sheet, I lay on top of it, grab the edge, and roll myself like a burrito.

We apologize for the delay bringing the intfiction.org forum back up. There are technical issues still being resolved and we appreciate your patience.

Our intfiction.org forum has been down for more than 24 hours. (It’s not just you!) Our hosting provider has notified us that “recovery is underway” but has provided us with no estimate as to when the forum will be back. Check status.iftechfoundation.org for the status of all of IFTF’s sites.

Oof. I am currently laid low with what seems like a (hopefully minor) case of food poisoning. I'd suggest avoiding "Gordon Ramsay Black Garlic Beef" cup ramen flavor if you're sensitive. I found it in the "random" aisle at Aldi.

Spearmint tea is helping a lot. WHAT KIND OF SANDWICH ARE YOU GORD-

Seriously, Charter-Spectrum, how do you manage to send mail to me three times a week and always in different sizes, shapes, colors, textures and formats (closed envelope and postcard which are sometimes paper and sometimes plastic.)

I'm not coming back, but someone works hard on your junk mail.

OMG you all...I was sleeping in with the clock radio on NPR and just heard "Supreme Court Justice dies..." and I sat bolt-upright in bed having a sincere "oh, this is the Bad Place..." moment and wondering why we weren't in special report mode about whether the MyPillow guy needs a law degree...

Constructive critique: When a citizen is forcibly removed from their native country and banished to live somewhere else, that is *exile* not deportation.

@writnelson.bsky.social Just noticed Game Grumps posted a Let's Play of An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs.

I suspect Arin will either totally vibe with this or *totally* short circuit. Can't wait to watch!

I've been thinking a lot about how genius Lady Gaga is about writing "hooks" in the music and why it's so infectious and ear-wormy.

I think it's that she craftily sets the title of the song amidst "nonsense lyrics" which immediately invites one to join in and sing backup which ear-worms the chorus.

Phone CSR pro-tip: If your microphone doesn't have a foam windscreen on it, position it next to your eye instead of below your nose.

Your callers and other agents will greatly appreciate not being subjected to your nose tornado wind sound when you breathe.

Just rewatched an online reaction to WICKED and was delighted to put together exactly how Glinda affects every bit of the wicked witch look - up to the epic cape-flip moment in the window before she flies. It clicked for me that is Elphaba incorporating Glinda's hair-toss in the most awesome way.

I'm reading Coralie Fargeat's screenplay for THE SUBSTANCE and it's a great lesson in "show-don't-tell" - there are omitted scenes in the script, and you can see expository dialogue that was judiciously removed in shooting or the edit. They did such a good job paring it down to just what was needed.

I liken "the muse" to a cat: if you call it and try to encourage it to approach it's like WHUT FOR LOSER? But if you're busy and interested in something else, then the muse is over your shoulder in in your lap collaborating like YOUR PROTAG NEEDS FRENDS, HE SHUD HAV A PET.

It is cold and the cats are relentless heat vampires. I have actually ordered a sweatshirt with a kangaroo pouch for the girl cat to sit in instead of perching on my chest so I can type while this occurs.

Oh my god. Until a couple minutes ago I assumed that the Oz head in the Wicked movie was CGI. Even in the previews, I'm "of course, this is the kind of thing CGI is made for, it's glossy fake surfaces, those ropes are animated on a computer with-"

Wicked was great. John Chu's superpower is he knows how to put the budget actually on-screen instead of having the movie built in a cubicle farm ten miles away.

I cannot wait to buy this movie on video so I can go frame by frame and just look at detail that's packed into every shot.
