And finally, that brings us to my most recent Jaina piece. Something I put together for her anniversary, and something I’ve been wanting to try and draw for a long time now. I really wanted to test my hand at an environment piece, and what better way to do that then to show off her beautiful planet?

Didn’t end up drawing much Jaina in June or July, but I did make this “Draw your OC in this” piece in August featuring my babygirl. An idea I had for a very long time but didn’t execute it until now.

February was a big month for Jaina art, because I also took part in a big OC collab which I drew Jaina for, and the 22nd was Cat Day in Japan, so I decided to put her in cat ears and a tail!

And with that, we enter 2025, or the Jear of Jaina. Kicking it off in Feb with, of course, Jaina! Here I drew her in a high-fantasy setting with the intent to expy her into @dee.castrella.com’s world of Castrella! Really leaned into buffing her up a bit, which does happen later in her main story!

Months passed and I was very excited to join this new community. I went around throwing Jaina into multiple art shares, trades, and raffles, resulting in a lot of new Jaina art from my new friends that I cherish deeply. Soon the year came to a close, and so I drew a Jaina to bring in the new year.

Within the first week of joining, I had already blown up to 100 followers, and I felt obligated to celebrate the sheer love and support I was receiving. So I quickly drew up this little celebration piece, featuring Jaina!

And the Jaina we all know and love was born! Following the above art, I went ahead and made a few alternate outfits for her, all relating to major points in her story. Fun fact: The original sketch for her casual fit had her in purple overalls, but I decided to scrap it for the bodysuit + poncho.

I spent the next few years further developing her story, even starting to flesh out some side characters. She wouldn’t get any new art for a while, though. I finally decided to give her a ref sheet with a slight update and a casual fit in about 2023, which wouldn’t be finished until late 2024.

Over the course of the next month or so, I developed her lore and even began a drawing of her first “official” design. This design was finished in November, and I was very proud of it. I uploaded it to instagram along with a summary of her story, and to my surprise a few people really liked it!

I picked out some black legs, along with an old V-Wing pilot torso and a generic female head, and some spiked black hair. I gave this new character a blaster in one hand and a helmet in the other, and I didn’t know it, but soon I was looking at the first prototype of a design for Jaina.
