I should probably just go to bed
April check-in:

-Weight loss 🆗
-Cooking ✅
-Reading ✅
-Spending 🆗
-Clickbait ✅

Had a few bad days breaking my diet, but I'm back on track. I did read several books this month, including the new Hunger Games. Higher than average spending but most of it was necessary stuff - except the Arby's dice 🎲
March in review:

-Weight loss ✅
-Cooking ✅
-Reading ✅
-Spending 🆗
-Clickbait ✅

Made some good progress on weight loss including a major milestone: my BMI is officially normal 🥳

As for spending - what's the verdict on buying new clothes due to weight loss? Feels kind of necessary
End-of-February update:

-Weight loss 🆗
-Cooking ✅
-Reading ✅
-Spending ✅
-Clickbait 🆗

Made some improvements on clickbait since last month, but I've been struggling to stick with a healthy diet recently

If phishing attempts looked more normal/boring and the sketchy part was the Unsubscribe button at the bottom, they'd be so much more successful at getting me to click on them.

Things I'd like to work on in 2025 (a.k.a. New Year's Resolutions):

-Continue losing weight
-Cook more (eat fewer prepared/frozen foods)
-Read more (work on backlog)
-Spend money wisely (avoid unnecessary purchases)

And lastly, the resolution I make every single year:

DON'T CLICK ON CLICKBAIT

More details: Since the 1st was a weekend, the changes didn't get posted until the next business day (3/03). So on my scheduled autopay day (3/01), my balance was $0, so nothing happened.

But even stranger is the fact that the HOA management didn't seem to notice this problem until I emailed them
My HOA changed payment sites. I set up autopay, but my March payment never happened

When I called to investigate, they told me I set autopay for the 1st, but March 1st was a Saturday, so the payment was skipped 🤦

What payment processor can't handle recurring payments that fall on weekends??

Last weekend, I was browsing the local library when I saw, on the back of a book, a picture of Hillary Clinton. I had to double-check: was I really still standing in the fiction section? This is how I discovered State of Terror, by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny 🧵

This feel like tin foil hat paranoid, but part of me is seriously worried about Zelenskyy's safety if he is going to visit the White House as announced

Consistent with my resolution to be more deliberate with my money in 2025, I've been reading Millionaire Mission by Brian Preston. I also watch The Money Guy Show on YouTube, so I was already familiar with the FOO, but it does prove some additional clarity. And this is a library copy 😁

Another dumb, clickbaity headline. Why would the post office randomly close for 24 hours? 🤔🤔🤔

It's because it's a holiday 🙄 President's Day, specifically. The post office will be closed on President's Day, just like it is every year. Not exactly newsworthy

I'm watching the WM Phoenix Open, and I low-key love the hi-vis caddie bibs. You think I can get one of those for work??

I finished Trail of the Lost, and with only a few days to spare until our book club meeting! The subject matter is pretty grim, but it's an engaging read from start to finish.

My sister and my mom wanted to start a family book club, and Trail of the Lost by Andrea Lankford is our first book. This is a library copy, and it was a good excuse for me to finally get a physical library card with CML instead of just sticking to digital all the time

Okay, there's clickbait, and then there's just plain dumb headlines. The only way a team can *repeat* as Big Ten Champs in 2025 is if they *won* in 2024. So yes, literally only one team is eligible for that feat.

(It's Oregon, by the way)

January update, how am I doing on my resolutions so far?

Let's see if I can improve my willpower to not click on clickbait in February

I'm on hold and the audio loop is only 26 seconds long. 21 seconds of music and 5 seconds of a voice telling me that they're busy with other callers. This is very unpleasant. I promise, I don't need to be reassured of my place in line at such frequency

Finished up The Exchange. It's a bit of a different vibe than The Firm, taking a little longer for the plot to develop. But it's good to see that Mitch has become a better person in the 15 years that passed.
After somewhat-unexpectedly enjoying The Firm by John Grisham last December, I added its sequel, The Exchange, to my Christmas list at the last minute. I'm not going to let this one sit in the backlog - I'm eager to read more about Mitch and Abby

Just finished Project Hail Mary and I loved it! Absolutely understand why this book was well received. Engaging from the first page, a constant stream of problems to be solved, and a fun surprise or two 🚀

I could have sworn that I received Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir as a Christmas gift a few years ago, but since I am completely unable to find it, I can only conclude that I'm confusing it with Artemis (which I do own!) So this copy is a library rental. Yay libraries! #BookSky 💙📚

Our incredibly awesome and generous DM Jake brought holiday presents for the table, including some new dice and a jumbo d20 that's actually a candle. But I think the cutest thing is this 3D printed dice jail!

Ohio State really said "No, we're going into the half with a 7 point lead as planned."
