Really great day meeting with the Well Schools Collective. Amazing to be surrounded by likeminded school and community leaders from across the country

As a founding school & deep believer in the movement, I’m excited to present tomorrow morning on ‘how to f*ck the system and still be outstanding’ 😉

Thank you @teachwellall.bsky.social for this :)

Truer today than ever
"If we're not putting our adults in a soil that is nutrient-rich, that will allow them to flourish into whoever they want to be as an educator, they have no chance of doing that effectively & sustainably in a classroom of children." @hannayjeremy.bsky.social quoted by @teachwellall.bsky.social in 👇

We must have a fully funded pay award this year.
After years of cuts there is nothing left and we will see a serious reduction in provision, standards and our duty of care unless money is made available to schools.
We cannot wait.

Whether you like musical theatre or not, this will make you smile. She sings the roof off the place.

Giant moment. Millions of viewers worldwide. One shot. And she absolutely nails it.

When the pressure is on, how do you make sure you (and your team) absolutely nail it?

I was told my way of thinking was wrong, stupid, and dangerous. I was told that I couldn’t lead a school that way here—that it wasn’t how things were done. If I didn’t like it, I should go back to Canada.

The new Ofsted framework could lead to an “army of expensive consultants” and “how-to guides” as schools try to adapt to the new expectations, @headsroundtable.bsky.social has warned the inspectorate.

Ofsted framework will lead to 'army of expensive consultants'
The Headteachers' Roundtable has also expressed concerns that inclusion and SEND are 'afterthoughts' in Ofsted's proposed inspection framework

We finished up another terrific term with a staff breakfast, before heading out for a fantastic final day with our children.

It's always worth taking a bit of extra time to share our gratitude for this amazing team.

This is why I missed her :)
Today I heard the same thing 5 times: "Thank you for choosing my child for the choir."

There was no choosing. It's primary school - nobody should be turned away. Everyone who wants to sing can sing.

We'll learn together, practise together, and sing in the Albert Hall together.

No surprise here 😎
Over the moon! Post intervention focus group for my research project today-every child said that they felt more likely to consider a career in computing when they grown up,after taking part in our Y5 Computing Careers Week & careers fair. @threebridgessch.bsky.social “Everyone is a Computing Person”

No one is happier than me 🤡
Our Deputy Headteacher is back!
She's been on jury duty since September - over 4 months!

What did she miss most about life at 3B?

Joy.
Our school is full of joy.

Today Heads Roundtable met to try and make sense of the last week. We will release thoughts soon but emerging thoughts: there’s a lot of change being proposed, we will focus on how it all lands for all children and our staff - not on politics or position. We are #HeadsRoundtable

It’s not just what we do
It’s who we are

The research culture at the school echoes through the corridors because of incredible teachers like this

So delighted with the data coming through from my research project. Check out the difference between the 3 words that children chose to describe a) Jobs in Computing b) “Computing People” before and after our Y5 Computing Careers Week. This is why I do what I do! Love my job!

Y5 Computing Careers Fair @threebridgessch.bsky.social this afternoon. So proud of the children. The research they did and how confident they were answering questions…and the positive feedback from teachers and parents was great. Now I have a LOT of ballots to count to see who the winners are.

Didn’t realise this was ‘news’ 😑
Highly recommend people read this example of the fantastic work (and significant challenges) of schools to support children and their families, particularly in areas of high deprivation.

Nearly half of schools give families financial help, teachers say
A survey of teachers in England suggests lots of schools are having to provide extra help for families.

This was made at the time I came to London. I’ve spent many hours at Heathrow. Travelling. Collecting. Returning. Leaving home. Coming home. Welcoming people to our home.

I was reminded of it this Christmas while watching a film

My deputy’s been on jury service since September

It’s easy to underestimate and undervalue the impact of the people that are closest to us

It’s fairly easy to share out tasks and responsibilities - but what’s not easy to distribute is

Who They Are

Which is the biggest part of the job

It has been one of the highlights of my career
Heading back to London this afternoon ready for the Pearson National Teaching Awards this evening as a guest of the The Teaching Awards Trust. So many amazing and inspiring folks in education, it’s an absolute pleasure to show support and respect to one and all.
