Three sketches from Vedauwoo last week! This landscape will always have a piece of my heart ❤️

Castilleja motif ceramic jar, made to demonstrate underglaze mishima for my wheel throwing class
A rounded ceramic pot which narrows to a short, straight lip. The lip is glazed red while the belly of the pot is glazed with shiny clear glaze over the white clay. Several Indian Paintbrush wildflowers are carved around the belly of the pot. The flower petals are glazed red and the carved outlines are inlaid with a blue-ish black. A little girl started asking me questions while I was painting this and told me she wants to be an artist when she grows up. I gave her a pen and paper to draw the falls and she drew a portrait of me sitting on my rock instead 😊
