We invite you to dig around in your own department/office/museum basements for our upcoming TAG session. Who knows what you might find - a probe room, perhaps? (Which belongs to the geologists; none of us know what goes on in there).

If you need to report a broken sanitary towel machine, there’s a handy payphone just next to the loo. We were all out of change, so yet to investigate whether it’s still connected. An ancient past seeps through the eye of Horus, Clearview Fobs and The Payphone Advertising Company.

After a hunt in our purses, we found a thinner 2008 5p, providing our TAQ for the machine. Unfortunately, it was also out of order, the drawer jammed. Our 5p was lost to the machine, and we could only look through the glass at the “feminine towels” that were now lost to us.

Where have these tree stumps come from? Why are they here? We’ve wondered if they come from Fossil Grove in Victoria Park; from deep time to door stops. Or are they instead replicas of an ancient past?

Our first point of interest is in the entanglement between the two subjects that reside within our building - Archaeology and Earth Sciences. Two fossilised tree stumps (or casts?) sit in a corridor often filled with students waiting to get into the basement lecture theatre.
