I have always said this issue is my main issue in teaching.

And then I went home and did all the work I was meant to have done that day and thanked all those that covered for me.

This must happen all the time for various different causes and it is maddening!

I could tell they found me frustrating as I shot down their ideas (nationally centralised ppt resources for everyone for e.g!). And afterwards when I suggested to the organisers that far more insight would be needed before coming up with solutions, they called me short sighted and narrow minded.

My number 1 frustrating thing I see in lessons is teachers asking students to guess what they are thinking. The same old students guess, wrongly. Teacher has to politely undo that. Repeat. Argh! Just tell them, check they understand, then get them to do something with that info.

The time I save in not deep marking and calculating grades of work I loose in deep holistic thought about each student and the capabilities they have shown me to date. And I prefer that at least!

Yes, I think most dept just base predictions of one assessment. Yet I can always point to a number pieces of evidence that inform my judgement.

For me our data drops are teacher predictions which can be informed by whatever we like. This means I can assess how I like, when I like and not give grades on these assessments. 👍🏻
