I tuned into this meeting (recording here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=55yf...) to try to understand how to turn fear and hurt into organized action. A takeaway: CALL your elected officials. Today's top urgent priority is to speak out against the senate confirmation of Vought, author of Project 25.

In an effort to ghost Meta apps, I joined Signal in the hopes of eventually replacing my WhatsApp group chats with Signal groups. Fun bonus: you can post stories on Signal, scratching a little IG itch and giving you glimpses into your friends' sweet lives 🥹 Let's switch to Signal: signal.org/install
Signal Messenger: Speak Freely
Say "hello" to a different messaging experience. An unexpected focus on privacy, combined with all of the features you expect.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

This morning we had our The Way We Get Through This Is Together conversation, an architect and five writers, talked about kindness, generosity, hope, community, storytelling, and it was everything I hoped for. If you want to watch, here it is.

@byashleymhalligan.bsky.social captured me in my element earlier this month, under the boughs of a manzanita on Mt. Tam. All those fallen blooms like a galaxy unspooled across the dark ground!

Share your fave print magazines! Looking for gorgeous storytelling, narrative nonfiction that cares about the world, and pieces that open my heart and mind across disciplines. In the past I've enjoyed stories from: Orion, Bay Nature, The Sun, High Country News, Hakai (rip), and I'm Nautilus-curious.

A circumambulation around Mt. Tamalpais to start the new year. Sweet manzanita flowers on the tongue, poems spilled at each trailside stop, deep moss. We tucked the flavors of the wintry mountain into a whiskey jar to sip from on our summer circuit: sargent cypress, bay laurel blooms, madrone. 🌿
