Today @thebowesmuseum.bsky.social we’ve celebrated our co-founder, Joséphine Bowes’ 200th birthday with cake, snowdrop planting, tours, and free entry to anyone whose name is a variation of Joséphine, Joe, Jo... etc.
I think she would have loved it.

I was walking past this portrait of Jerome Bonaparte (King of Westphalia) @thebowesmuseum.bsky.social when a three year old child with their nursery group, stopped, pointed at the painting, and yelled “Pirate!”.
The power of art to mean different things to different people.

Had a great time with @rhiannonjhceo.bsky.social and @keithmerrin.bsky.social at @beamishmuseum.bsky.social yesterday, talking all things museums and having a lovely walk. The new cinema is a such a beaut! Also sampled a classic jam tart before the bakery switches to mince pies #bonus
