Volunteering at the local wildlife area yesterday involved raking up cuttings from the wildflower area. Lovely people and a little bit of sunshine.

Yesterday I was back volunteering at the pond. Unfortunately the recent rain hasn’t done much for the water levels but we made a start at digging post holes and putting up a proper fence around it.

Gardening means constantly moving insects to a safer location if the plant they are resting on needs some attention. It also means stopping to take photos! Lacewing larva on Common Fleabane leaves at the weekend.

Another lovely evening out collecting field data. Very thankful the thunderstorm missed us, just angrily grumbling as it moved by.

I love when the smallest of insects stop by to say hello. Graphopsocus cruciatus in the garden today.

I had a lovely day out with the Glorious Cotswold Grasslands at their volunteer training day at wonderful highly species rich site in Gloucestershire. Thanks to the team I learnt how to use their recording app and familiarised myself with some more species.

Last week before it turned cooler and blustery I saw what I believe to be a Cloeon dipterum resting in the garden. It’s often the little things in life that catch my eye.

Last week I headed back to a private ancient woodland I completed a biodiversity audit at last year. This year I am carrying out a vascular plant survey to create an updated species list for them. It’s a lovely peaceful woodland to walk around.
