It’s terrible, but highly enjoyable. I saw it with bike friends in the theater!

“Helped pass” ≠ “passed”

And yes, California YIMBY lobbied in the Capitol, organized in-district, and did media and grassroots advocacy in support of AB 1482.

We secured meetings with swing votes that other tenant groups couldn’t get, and delivered significant grassroots support.

Renters should have rights and lawyers who defend those rights.

I deleted my post. I wasn’t trying to mock all tenants rights attorneys and I don’t know you, so I shouldn’t have said anything.

A quick joke with a former colleague didn’t land.

Bills that Protect Renters-2019 - California YIMBY
The California housing crisis is a complex problem, and fixing it is going to require a lot of different solutions. There are a number of important bills in the legislature right now and we’re here to...

I acknowledged in another thread that I shouldn’t have assumed you shared the politics of the politically active tenants rights attorneys in CA.

As someone who very much supports renter rights, their harmful advocacy frustrates me.

I’ve long supported renter rights and have helped pass legislation protecting millions of renters from high rent increases and unjust evictions.

The joke is that while renter rights are very important, many tenants rights attorneys advocate for policies that harm renters.

Fair enough. His bad Waymo take certainly reminded me of the kinds of “tenants rights” attorneys we have in CA, but I shouldn’t have assumed it.

It literally is not.

I also find that depressing, but my feelings don’t matter and I wish other Dems and progressives would get over themselves and do what is necessary to win.

The polling was quite clear that swing voters didn’t care about the “democracy in peril” argument.

Much of the traditional print media, like the NYT, did report on the threat to democracy.

Few swing voters read print news.

Kamala did not run on Trump’s immigration platform, but nicer.
November 16, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Kamala basically hit the right themes, but the “democracy under attack” pivot in the late campaign was more for people like us than swing voters.

The real problem is that she was already defined as caring more about progressive cultural and non-economic issues, because she did before the election!

She's definitely more LA-coded than SF-coded, but she grew-up in rural Virginia (near Charlottesville).

No, it would likely be competitive, but I’d need a better sense of scope and cost.

Thanks, I’m seriously considering putting a budget request in.

After sitting on the train for 43 mins with zero updates, I took an Uber from San Jose to SF.

Completely unacceptable service.

And Diridon apparently doesn’t have vending machines?
