I have been known to thank the critter I am eating.

I can almost see the island from here but in this case I meant our outside porch or deck.

They nap underneath our lanai every day. I’ll get a close up picture.

Seriously, the first time I witnessed “play” behavior in a reptile was a young green sea turtle messing with an older one.

I’m their guest for a few days.

Thanks so much for this information. The Forest Service has gone to some trouble to isolate this pond. I thought it might have been something more rare and endangered. The tummy confused me. 😊

That was my first thought because of the environment, however on closer observation the skin was smooth.

Did you ask if it was ok to take their picture? 😉
