It is very funny that centrist Dems thought “we should focus on the bread and butter economic concerns of working class people” would be an effective factional argument *against* the left, but now they immediately have to acknowledge that they oppose all the policies that address those concerns

This is the most important thing to understand about the Trump admin. They are not trying to win over the public, they are trying to bring every major institution to heel to close the door on a democratic option. The tariffs and so much else only make sense in this context.

As DCCC chair in 06 Rahm obsessively recruited right wing Ds who supported the profoundly unpopular Iraq war. Many winning Ds beat his recruits in primaries, or won with little support from DCCC bc they were too anti-war. For these ppl the answer is ALWAYS to run to the right, no matter the evidence
