Reminds me of the fashion changes France saw a decade before the French Revolution, though Teslas aren’t necessarily an upper class/aristocracy only thing. Does a girl dare to dream?
An article on fashion changes in France prior to the French Revolution. It reads: “Fashionable clothing at the time was outrageous, especially in France. Men wore elaborately embroidered coats and waistcoats. Women wore ornate dresses that featured wide hoops called panniers. Both men and women would doll themselves up with makeup. The most extreme fashion accessory was the wig, especially for women. As the century wore on, women’s wigs became increasing complicated-and tall. They became so tall that they had to use pads, which then morphed into wire frames because the padding became too heavy. They could feature outlandish decorations like birds in cages or ships.” Marie Antoinette is pictured in a lavish, colorful gown which features an extremely full skirt with lots of bows, ruffles, and other ornaments. The gown probably would have taken multiple people a ridiculous amount of time to hand sew. She’s wearing her hair piled high, with a bonnet just as tall as her hair. It has many large feathers and what appears to be embellished features on it. She holds a fan which matches the ensemble. The piece continues to say: “When the aristocracy realized there was a great deal of political unrest, they attempted to make a change (or maybe just appear to make a change). This directly effected fashion. In the 1780s, Marie Antoinette and her friends began wearing comparatively simple white muslin dresses. They didn’t wear panniers, and although still voluminous, their hair was much simpler. They would wear these fashions at the queen’s getaway, a small chateau on Versailles estate. There they would basically ‘play peasants’.” Another portrait of Marie Antoinette is featured. Now she is in a more simple, all white dress with a brown sash around her waist. Her hair is loose and worn down, underneath a wide brim sun hat with a single grey ribbon and one large grey feather. While there are still some fancier features like a ruffled neckline, it is far more simple when compared to the dress from before.

Update: I ordered some shirts, tea, and a tote bag and it came way faster than I expected and they gave me some extra art and stickers!!
