One option would be to go to the North end and walk the freedom trail. www.thefreedomtrail.org

You can get pastries at the usual suspects Bova's Mike's, and Modern pastry there as well. We like to drop into paradisio or cafe Vittoria for a hot chocolate while there.

The issue at hand was that they wanted this scene of them rolling a barrel of chemical across the screen so they had to go with enough methylamine to enable that visual.

There was a panel at ACS in Anaheim years ago (2007 or 2008?). With folks who did consulting for Hollywood productions.

One of them actually discussed this scene. They got a call asking how big a drum of methylamine that size would make.

Also if you are in a joint bachelors/masters you can only apply once rather than as a senior and as a first year PhD vs just a bachelor's where you can apply both as an undergrad and as a first year grad student.

Some version of this has been in the FOA for the last couple of years.

The bigger change seems to be that if you have been in a master's program for over a year or hold a masters degree(even from a joint BS/MS) you are ineligible.

You can apply while in such a program but cannot once you graduate.

Someone I know put it best. It can make your writing seem nicer or cleaner but it can't tell you not to send the email in the first place.

My guess is it in part is because chlorine gas was used on the trenches in world war I and that mustard gas contains chlorine that poorly informed folks conflated the two and here we are.
April 5, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Yeah it's the chlorine thing. They think chlorine is mustard gas and they think that by mixing bleach with things that produces chlorine gas. Both of these are wrong but have been floating around for decades I think.

Here most buildings are old enough, and/or small enough, that they don't have garages so most garages are gigantic and under malls, parks, or train stations. The valet ones that we do have are buildings built from the 80s on where they had to squeeze parking in underneath.
