• Sleeping together •

The first time it happened, Kaveh was drunk.

It was a night like any other. The architect was returning home after an evening spent in the tavern, drowning his sadness and loneliness in alcohol.

When Kaveh entered Alhaitham's room that night and lay down beside him in his bed, he realised - without needing words - that Alhaitham loved him just as much as he loved Alhaitham.

- end.

was feeling low, had known it all along and had never said anything. He had not turned him away, nor had he confronted him, so as not to cause him any embarrassment. He acted as if he did not notice and accepted it silently.

It didn't make sense; the scribe always slept with his door closed to reduce noise from outside. Why had he left both doors open?

Then Kaveh realised. What Alhaitham had done was a silent invitation.

It was obvious now: the scribe had known that the architect crawled into his bed at night when he

Kaveh furrowed his brow, not understanding why his roommate had walked in only to announce he was going to sleep. The architect got up, intending to close the door and go back to bed, but when he looked out of his room, he noticed that Alhaitham's door was also ajar.

Kaveh quietly went to his room, put on his pyjamas and got under the covers.
But before he could fall asleep, he heard the sound of approaching footsteps and the click of the door opening. “I'm going to bed.” Alhaitham said simply, before walking out of the room, leaving the door ajar.

deemed it too whimsical and extravagant. He was tired and demoralised and all he wanted to do was snuggle into Alhaitham's arms, but the scribe was strangely still awake that night, intent on reading a book that had caught his eye. So, after wishing him good night,

That same hope filled Kaveh's heart that day in the desert when Alhaitham lay behind him under the blanket, hugging him and warming him with his own body.

The fifth time it happened, Kaveh was loved.

It had been a terrible day at work. His client had objected to every detail of his design,

he had insisted on rest. Alhaitham had changed in the last few months, Kaveh had noticed. He had become kinder, more understanding... sweeter, in his own way. And the architect hated this change, because it raised a dangerous hope in him, the hope that his feelings could be reciprocated.

He felt like a wreck, both physically and emotionally. He had insisted so much on accompanying Alhaitham and now he was slowing him down, he had become a burden.
But the scribe had not made any nasty comment or joke, on the contrary... as soon as he had realised his friend's state of health,

and the two of them had to seek shelter near a camp of eremites who had fortunately offered them hospitality. Kaveh, who was feverish, was curled up in a corner of the tent and would not stop shivering. The blanket the eremites had kindly loaned him wasn’t enough to keep him warm.

but Kaveh resented the idea of his friend travelling unaccompanied in the desert. Was he paranoid? Perhaps. But he had already lost his father in the sand; he was not going to just sit at home and wait this time. Unfortunately, by the second day's march, he had begun to feel tired and sick

would be the lingering scent of Alhaitham's sheets on his clothes and nothing more than that.

The fourth time it happened, Kaveh was ill.

They had been in the desert for a few days, on a quest that Lesser Lord Kusanali had entrusted to Alhaitham. The scribe had insisted on going alone,

Because while it was true that he was in the arms of the person he loved, in the most comfortable place he could have wished for, he knew that those were stolen moments, hidden away in the night. The next morning, the only thing he would be left with

So, as he had done months before, he slipped into Alhaitham’s room, snuggled under the covers and immersed himself in the mix of sensations that only the scribe could give him. Then he started crying.
Kaveh couldn't stop the tears from welling up as Alhaitham held him close.

They had not seen each other that day. By the time Kaveh awoke in the morning, Alhaitham had already left for work, and when the architect returned home, the scribe was already in bed.
He had a longing for his roommate, a desire to see him, to be with him.
November 24, 2024 at 4:17 PM
more than anything else, he was happy only when they got along, and he felt himself dying inside every time they argued. He started noticing every little gesture the scribe made for him, the way he was always there when Kaveh needed him, supporting him in silence.

He closed his eyes and let himself be cuddled by the warmth of the body behind him. And if Alhaitham had ever found out, Kaveh would have lied and blamed the alcohol.

The third time it happened, Kaveh was in love.

He didn't want to admit it, but it was undeniable. He craved Alhaitham's touch

By now Kaveh was trembling with anxiety. He had to leave immediately, to flee the room, but as soon as he tried to get up, Alhaitham turned around, wrapping his arms around the blonde's waist and holding him tight. And Kaveh no longer had the will to move.
November 24, 2024 at 4:15 PM
It had already been a big mistake to have slept with his roommate that night, but at least he had the excuse of the alcohol to fall back on. But doing it again, while being sober? What if Alhaitham had found him out this time? What was he going to say in order to justify such a gesture?

That’s why, one night, he cautiously crept into Alhaitham’s room and lay down beside him, holding his breath. His heart was beating so hard he was sure it could be heard in the silence of the room, and for a moment he wondered if he had gone completely mad. What was he thinking?
November 24, 2024 at 4:14 PM
He felt lonely, damn lonely. Sure, he had many friends by his side, but none of them could fill his heart with the warmth he craved. He wanted to feel loved, cherished. He wanted to feel the same sense of wholeness he had felt that night in the scribe's bed.
November 24, 2024 at 4:14 PM
he certainly wasn't going to admit it out loud.

The second time it happened, Kaveh was sad.

It had been a few weeks since he had accidentally found himself in Alhaitham's bed, and the feeling of emptiness he had felt that morning when he had run away had returned several times to numb his days.

not found embarrassing, would have been comfortable, loving.
Careful not to wake his friend, the architect freed himself from the scribe's grip and quickly left the room, hoping to avoid a confrontation. And if Kaveh felt a sense of loneliness as soon as he got out of bed,

mistake he had made.

Behind his back he could feel the warmth of another man's body, hear the sound of his breathing as he slept, smell the pyjamas he was wearing. Alhaitham's left arm served as Kaveh's pillow, while his right arm was wrapped around Kaveh's hips in an embrace that, had the blonde
