By the time it was completed and I got there the crossbar exchange kit had been replaced with the NEAX61 computerised switches, which were a lot smaller. So we ended up with offices, but the top floor was the staff cafe, so not all bad

From (fading) memory the building was designed to hold crossbar telephone exchange equipment (to replace the step by step exchange in the building behind), so the stud height was quite high and the floorplate was open originally.
