New 2-part Saturday workshop!
Tie-on pockets were a staple of women’s clothing until the late 1800s. Join me for some calm, mindful hand stitching as you make your own beautiful & useful historically-inspired pocket to wear every day. No more misplaced phones or keys!

Very Hungry Caterpillars

I have a tiny wildflower patch in my small garden. A riot of colour a few day ago but hot dry weather’s taken its toll. It’s still full of life. A few pics. Also saw bees of all flavours, butterflies & cinnabar moths (parents of the caterpillars of which there are dozens). All in 5 mins of looking.

A couple of hotchpotch quilts I made for my daughter out of her old clothes (as you can tell, I’m a sewist, not a photographer 😁)

I'm not even going to try to keep my Bluesky nicely curated. I know I'll fail, but I'll keep posting nice pictures interspersed with feminist rage and books I like. And cat pictures. Because what is social media without cat pictures?

Here's one - meet Captain Hastings.

A few more Pride pockets

Some of my Pride tie-on pockets. I love making these. I love patchwork - I use scraps and remnants wherever I can and get a kick from working out how to use every last bit of fabric.

One of my pockets, with a cameo from Captain Hastings.

I make and sell historically-inspired tie-on pockets and sewing patterns because I'm a bolshy woman who likes to:

a) wear clothes
b) keep my phone and other things safe, and
c) have both hands free

And it turns out other women like it too! If they won't give us pockets, we'll just make our own.
