Today has been a #baking kind of weather day, so I decided to try a recipe I’ve not made before. This one is from a 1960s cookie recipe book that my mom had when I was growing up, and it’s a 19th century recipe. It may not be much to look at, but these hermits are yummy and not too sweet. 👩‍🍳

My dear old cat would spend every non-eating minute sleeping on my lap if she could. She’s currently very happy I stopped for lunch today, even if I have to wake her up in about 5 minutes (and counting). #CatsofBlueSky

It is, as Hofstadter says, ‘all but ineradicable’. This is why reason in political communication doesn’t work, and why platforms that allow paranoia to spread widely are so dangerous.

Currently re-reading Richard Hofstadter’s 1964 article on ‘The Paranoid Style in American Politics’, mandatory reading for anyone trying to understand what’s happening right now. It cuts across geography, income, class, gender & ethnicity, in good times and bad.
