It doesn’t look like much, but I got my first little plot of wheat planted yesterday. And my arms are feeling it today. Aside from corn, this is my first real attempt to grow grain and I have no idea how it’s going to turn out.

My other trash project is this mostly recycled materials chicken coop. We don’t have too much predator pressure here, with the biggest being coyotes, so I’m hoping this will be a decent and secure home for the birbs.

There’s a weird sort of background stress that comes with wildfire season that’s hard to fully explain. It’s not overbearing, but it’s very present. Watch Duty been going off the last couple days. The smoke has been awful too.

Lots of nice blooms lately. Hemerocallis species (daylily), Astrophytum myriostigma, the first bloom on my CA native Carpenteria californica, and a mystery huge Echinopsis cactus flower.

Spooked a turkey out of the tall grass while weed whacking today… followed the little turkey tunnel to find nest with 12 eggs in it! Also saw my first ever roadrunner in the area, so fucking cool. Birds everywhere!

Finally vended chainmail at a small event and definitely learned I need to make longer necklaces. I have a tiny neck… despite trying to make several quite a bit longer than what I’d wear, it still wasn’t enough. 😅 The more you know!
