All relevant isotopes of Pu have neutron # of ~3. Even the non-fissile ones may sustain a chain reaction through fast neutron fission bc of the high neutron # and the large fission cross sections. Carson Mark estimates a critical mass of 40 kg for alpha phase Pu-240 (massive sphere).
