For clarity, I don’t think he’s a bad father. FAR from… but he’s made some choices that led to his sons being the way they are. Those layers are apart of his appeal. Pieces you have to put together that are sprinkled throughout the game even when he isn’t on screen.

I think about when Haurche said to his father “I will make you proud” before storming the vault. There is so much weight behind that. The weight of things his own never probably never got to say to him and now never will. And not even for malicious reasons. It could be a number of things.

There is not a single doubt in my body that he loves all his sons and the way he dropped to his knees after the vault haunts me to this day. But all the same I think about Haurche’s letter where he says they don’t talk much… he didn’t even say I know my father loves me!
