That’s a fair point. I think I was commenting more on their unwillingness to muck it up and try to score some dirty goals. They were flying against Detroit it’s true, but Gibson seemed to see the shots pretty cleanly. Pretty passing but no one causing a ruckus.

To my eye, they played the same way against Detroit as they did against St Louis. Their response to the St Louis game was to come out hard and tough against Dallas. I’m thinking they do the same against Vancouver.

I agree. Trying to be pretty when they need to be dirty. Gibson saw every puck coming at him.

There’s a point where you have to stop trying to be pretty and just get in there and get some ugly goals. Gibson could see the shots all night long.

It was pretty tense before his second, Canadiens 3rd, as well. Florida had come out strong, Habs hadn’t had a shot in the second period. It applied there too.

I love to hate the Bruins, like I loved to hate the Nordiques. And I love/loved to watch them play. I just hate the Leafs, the way they drone on and on about themselves. Tiresome.

Rereading this, I like that term “routine victory”- not perfect games but solid enough and with enough offensive sting to win. They don’t have to play perfect games with everyone firing at 100% for 60 minutes.
