I watched with Amy and we stopped there. In our world, all is good 🥹

Gosh, that was beautifully and clearly written. Thank you for sharing and the gentle reminder that it’s so easy to unwittingly add to someone’s load with a catch-all comment over a more personal response.

I’m now wondering if they’ll come tomorrow night instead

I know the forecast was putting people off originally but it was dry by 5pm and a Friday night. I had more teenagers than littlies.

We hardly had anyone, either - I was giving away handfuls of chocolate and lollipops and still have two big bowls and the emergency reserve sweets untouched!

This was exactly what my daughter did - she said it helped her spot when something had been taken 🤭

I hear that x

Rest well and know that your little crew of shark fans are thinking of you and yours and sending much love and candy corn x

Do you have a good friendly neighbour you could sit with and help hand out their candy? That way you could still experience the joy of the costumes and festivities in good company without the load of hosting yourselves? It feels a shame to miss out entirely when this may be an option x sending love

Darling Bruce, as you’ve been doing it this many years, your community will know your heart and kindness and I’m sure understand and send you love at this time. You can’t pour from an empty jug, as they say, so please allow others to pour into you at this time.

I am trying to remember if this was the illustration on my copy of this book as i can’t recall this one. Does anyone know if there was another version?

His name (probably unknowingly to the owners!) lives on in many Nova Scotian yards, if it’s any consolation.

And I feel you on the rest x our neighbourhood has always gone big for Halloween, but this means people from further afield drive in and we now have more and more kids and it’s getting too much. Our own kids are now older and this is likely to be last for youngest at 16.

Do you still have Victor? We name every large skeleton Victor after yours x

Out with the eldest around lunchtime today and they mention ‘that delicious sandwich we had that one time when we were out in the car’ - seemed like a good reminder of this post so pulled into the left lane and there we were!

It’s been so dry here in Nova Scotia that we’ve had a fire ban most of the summer and still even now. Climate change is bringing big issues this summer 😞
