in my heart of hearts, i want to believe i wouldn’t have become the token minority in conservative spaces. but what if i didn’t know what i know now? what if social media had a chance to rot my brain more than it already has?

all this to say…i’m scared that younger people will be pushed further to the right because being on the correct side is exhausting. who’s to say the kind of person i’d be today if i was born a decade later

i’m saying this as a black, muslim woman with an arabic name in a male dominated field. i get that the cards are stacked against me. i get that revolution requires extreme sacrifice. i’m just so tired. turning my brain off, even for a bit, sounds incredible

objectively, right wingers are less educated. i can’t help but think that not being burdened with critical thinking skills, in combination with the access to social media, would make life so easy

i feel grateful i had the tools to unlearn so much harmful shit, and developing critical thinking skills in my formative years pushed me so far left. but sometimes i look at the right and feel so much envy
