Regarding the ACA fight: Republicans don’t like anything that sounds like “credits” or “subsidies” because they immediately shift to “handouts.” But these aren’t handouts. We paid for these. With taxes. Is there anything better to do with tax dollars than prevent death?

When the news Dems “caved” broke, I wrote that this was in fact the first example of our party playing chess and not checkers in quite a while. What’s happened since? Grijalva’s seated. Epstein files pouring out of every fissure and GOP are lining up to ship more. SNAP is funded for a year. Chess.

There’s no getting around this: democrats got FAR MORE out of the deal than MAGA did. Govt workers go back to work, the layoffs are halted, SNAP is extended for the whole fiscal year, fed workers get back pay, and - most importantly - the House opens and adds Grivalja, fording an Epstein vote.

Folks who say the Dems caved - tell me what their path was to reinstating ACA subsidies before the inevitable doubling and tripling of insurance costs. They showed who gave a damn and who didn’t, won EVERY election, then decided to punt a currently unwinnable issue to Jan. Maybe we get the files too

Democrats decided to put food on the tables of Americans at Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Less food than usual, because tariffs, but still.) The fight resumes January.

Folks, people were about to start dying of starvation. Get mad at the dems if you like, but the Supreme Court went schreibtischtaeter (desk killer) on poor citizens and someone has to save their lives, first and foremost. The fight continues.
November 10, 2025 at 9:16 PM
If you’ve never heard the term Schreibtischtaeter, give it a look. It now applies to the Supreme Court, like it once applied to Saurer, and Shell, and Himmler. And Hitler.

Saw the KC - Det fistfight after the game. Wanna stop it? Start normalizing whole-team handshakes after every college (and high school) football game. As a side benefit, once it’s normalized, you’ll delay fans rushing the field until the teams and coaches have cleared, and prevent injuries.

Random thought for the day - those red state natty guard boys and girls in DC, LA and I guess now Chicago? They’re getting out of their kudzu-covered home states for the first time EVER. So be nice to them. They had to come. Show them the lie they’ve been told about your urban ass.

The difference between us and the cave painters of 30,000 years ago is referred knowledge and nothing else. Genetically, we’re essentially identical. So when people start attacking education, they’re not taking us to the 1950s, they’re taking us to 28,000 BCE.

If you’re on the fence about the Catholic public (taxpayer-funded) school in Oklahoma, say it this way: “a public school where students are REQUIRED to attend Catholic mass and support the (religious) mission of the school.” Ask the Danbury Baptists how they feel about it

At this point tRump has wrecked or begun to wreck some aspect of your life as an American. This is true of every American. If you rationalize it with “he’s hurting them more than me, it’s worth it” stop calling yourself an American. North Korea always has openings in their jackboot ranks. Peace out.

Having, or developing, the empathy required to raise a child with autism is terrifying to MAGA. Hence the targeting.

Just a thought for @mcuban.bsky.social and other well-heeled Bluesky folks - Virginia and other states are losing federal funds earmarked for preserving our history, including DEI bits. Some of what the gov is abandoning is too expensive for any one person. But these grants are a rounding error 😉
