Ran into a guy on our way out from a remote hike yesterday. Heard wood splitting at a distance- then there he was- alone about a mile from the trailhead w/ crosscut saws(misery whips)
a maul and splitting wedges. No Rangers or trail crews left-
Just a lone American retiree-clearing the way 4 others.
