I agree with this sentiment a lot and I’m reposting it here because I agree, but some people are using this to hurl superlatives and justify their “hot takes” and to suggest having a criterion closet of games.. Dude. I think some video game people literally do not know how to critique art.

Metaphor ReFantazio finally hooked me. Haven't finished yet but I think I'm close. I have mixed feelings on the social links in this game, but this might be the most exciting story in an Atlus game which says a lot. Fusing press turn combat and the Persona calendar was always going to be great.

5. Linda Cube
Supposedly an English patch came out after I stopped playing. Nice.
Sci-fi Noah's Ark JRPG. Linda and the villains are great, and scenario A and B where there's an actual story are a lot of fun. I got bored with the open world scenario C, but I want to play more when I have the time.

4. Moon: Remix RPG Adventure
If you can stomach the slow pace, this is an experience I think you'll remember for a long time. One of the sweetest, most genuine narratives on love I've experienced.
This is a must play for anyone who likes Undertale, Earthbound or Yume Nikki, or PS1 weirdness.

3. Persona 3 Reload
P3R should've been much more than it actually was. The only reason I saw to remake Persona 3 was to fuse the best parts of FES and Portable. They completely failed on that front, but at it's core P3 is still an excellent, excellent game.

2. Doubutsu no Mori e+
The Gamecube Animal Crossing has been my favorite for years, and this is the best version of it. I'm surprised people don't talk about the object system more, it's kind of like Public Works Projects nine years before New Leaf.
It's a crime this hasn't been translated yet.

1. Little Busters
I didn't like the side routes nearly as much as Clannad's, but the common route, characters and everything about Refrain were so well done that this is still my favorite Key vn. This is probably a must play for vn fans.

🍀2024 Gaming Thread🍀
I'd usually start this earlier. I didn't play a lot of new games this year, but I did play a lot of great stuff you may or may not have heard of. Here's some of my favorites I've discovered throughout the year.
