Not a new project, but an ongoing one is discovering all the things available in the Full Text search on FamilySearch. There is a lot to uncover there.

Another side project involves researching families living at a certain time in some of the small towns and villages my ancestors called home. The various work, religious, social, and familial connections are a knot worth untying in many cases.

A recent pet project:

When people find out you "do genealogy", one of their first questions is often are you related to anyone famous.

It has been interesting to find the connections to many, though the reaction is usually "no way".

I'm subjected to adult contemporary radio at work. I'm now convinced that Bonnie Tyler is the female equivalent to Meat Loaf. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they shared a producer.

When asked "Who are you with?", the answer should always be "the free press". There won't be an answer to the question from the tangerine totalitarian, but it would be fun to see his reaction.

"Quiet, piggy" seems like a pot, meet kettle moment, but I could be wrong.

Are you planning to come to the New England Regional Genealogy Conference next week? I wrote this blog post about 12 years ago for another NERGC conference, and I heard that it came in very handy for those who needed to understand the locals. nutfieldgenealogy.blogspot.com/2013/04/new-...

Documenting a Family History
Do you have old correspondence tucked away in your genealogy files? If so, have you ever noticed that some of it refers to families that don’t seem to connect directly to your research? That was my experience when I reopened a 1993 letter containing details about the family of Robert Crawford. Robert Crawford was born in Virginia and later moved to Ohio.
