The article shows this act will be worse for those countries than the previous end to foreign aid that doge and Trump and the Republicans implemented - but I see this acting more in conjunction with ending foreign aid as a double negative impact on the world’s poorest and sickest nations.

When Science Editor Rob Stein heard about the landmark project being shut down, he moved quickly to interview several scientists on the project for All Things Considered. The WHI was launched in the 1990s because most medical research had been conducted on men. Two days after Rob's reporting aired, the Department of Health and Human Services reversed its decision. In a note to NPR, one of WHI's lead researchers said Rob's reporting played a "huge role" in getting funding restored.

Lithium-ion batteries were invented in the U.S., but years ago, China began leading the way in their mass production as part of its push for electric vehicles. Now, a competition is emerging to determine which country will dominate the future of EV batteries. Here's why this competition is becoming more complicated: Chinese automakers are announcing newer, better batteries, including in vehicles promising 5-minute "flash charge" times. U.S. companies have not announced anything like this, focusing instead on cutting costs. China is planning to install 4,000 fast charging stations, none of which will be in the U.S., where Chinese EVs face the risks of heavy tariffs and tech restrictions. Companies worldwide are attempting to build batteries based on sodium or “solid-state" batteries. These technologies could be safer, cheaper, and offer higher energy storage. The Trump administration has started the process of rolling back incentives, infrastructure and requirements encouraging EVs.

LA County has lost nearly $20 million in funding, which goes to community organizations delivering care and prevention. HIV prevention contracts with 39 community-based organizations in LA County have been terminated. California's End The Epidemics (EtE) coalition urgently requests an emergency $5 million from Governor Newsom to cover HIV prevention state-wide through June 30. Tiny white speckled flowers. Small branches growing off a thin tree. Lookup says pear tree, and that it’s invasive. Oops. Huge magnolia flower, still closed in an oval white bud. No idea what this plant is - the phone lookup says it’s an agave but that doesn’t seem right - it looks like pinkie finer thick strands growing out in a pattern that form green pompoms. Pretty long steamed plant with yellow flowers. The phone lookup says it’s called a nodding pincushion, which is so cool. It has a slice of geode that was slipped onto the stem of one flower before the flower opened

Little detail is provided, besides the "savings" from each cancellation, and it's hard to determine the cost or collateral damage of all these cuts. But for some families, there has been a cost. One of these programs, cancelled on Feb. 10, was called Charting My Path for Future Success. It was a research-based effort to help students with disabilities make the sometimes difficult transition from high school into college or the world of work and self-sufficiency. npr.org

This is the part I needed. How to turn it off for teens. For under 12 it looks like it’s not available so the trick may be for some parents to just set their kids phone age up to be 12 even if they’re 15 and have them request access any time they need to visit a site
To block elements of Apple Intelligence on your device, or any that you manage, turn to Screen Time. Apple recommends that image creation tools be used by kids 12 and older, while the ChatGPT extension be used by kids 13 and older. To manage these features, open Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, and tap Intelligence & Siri. Here, you can allow or block Image Creation, Writing Tools, and ChatGPT Extension. (You can also axe Math Notes if you don't want Apple doing your kids' homework.)
