Spending $16 & change to get treated like trash was not on my BINGO card for last night. But? I was so fucking mad that I wrote for a collective three hours between then & now. The most I've written all month. And it's good. ♥️ But that's not the point of this post. What I want to express is this: Make your frustration worth something & never take being treated like shit. Standing up for yourself is hard—especially if you present as female. Folks expect you to be docile. Complacent. To just accept bad behavior. They especially expect this from me because I'm polite as shit. Pleasant as fuck. Etc. But I will not stand to be talked down to, disrespected, or gaslit by fucking ANYONE. EVER. Never the fuck again. Do I still deserve an apology I'll never get? Yup. But the person who treated me like shit and then had the audacity to look me in the eye and say, "I'm not being rude," is never gonna do that. However, I never have to walk into that restaurant again, & I've got a nice, fresh, juicy piece of fiction on my hands. Call it a win. 🖤

Emotional BS is My Speciality I'd love to have a reason for being so goddamn motherfucking slow with my releases. And I suppose I do, but it doesn't ring valid to my own ears. I caught COVID during a reading at a library & my life entirely derailed for a year. I'm lucky enough to not yet sick often, but when I do? Recovery is incredibly slow. My liver doesn't function well. My brain occasionally gets a little wonky (medical term) along with it. And I was barely keeping it together. But I did. I'm still here. Still writing. Still working. I almost crossed my fingers that he would meet my rage. Give me something to fight about. But he hit me with open arms, compassion, and an apology. "I'm sorry. "No no. The time for sentimental bullshit is done." I laughed and feigned being aghast because we both have my number and I was absolutely headed for some sentimental bullshit. But it could go unsaid. I mimed zipping my lips and tossing away the key. Dean looked me dead on and declared, "Bullshit." I gave him the finger. And he offered me his arm. And I pretended like my eyes weren't damp again.
