Monkey Island 2. There's a part where after you finish the opening chapter, LeChuck gets resurrected and the voodoo lady is like "he's going to find you and get his revenge" and the music changes and I was like 7 and absolutely terrified.

Monkey Island 2. There's a part where after you finish the opening chapter, LeChuck gets resurrected and the voodoo lady is like "he's going to find you and get his revenge" and the music changes and I was like 7 and absolutely terrified.
There’s also the Heroes Chronicles series which is based on HoMM 3 which is specifically a lite-version of normal HoMM intended for newcomers. 5 is pretty fun too, since they tried to have a Warcraft 3-esque story mode in there. Great atmosphere, one of the best title screens in game history.

I'll always recommend Monstress at the drop of a hat. Fantastic art and really evocative world building.
