I wonder when should we treat some words used to describe categories of critters in common lingos as ecological morphotypes rather than taxonomic groupings. Treating things like carnivores, fish and trees as monophyletic taxonomic groups create more problems than solving them

I'm glad that the cat that conquered the world seems to have been given the leading role in this series. I do find the incisors of these models a bit too small however, these things are called cookies cutter cats for a reason

They are not closer to jackals either. They sit at the most basal position on the Canina subtribe, and are more distantly related to any living members of that group than they are to eachother.
