Time for the rest of us to learn that the leadership's caving is not cowardice or mistake, but is a highly successful strategy to maintain control over the party.

Disagree. The establishment has learned that by repeatedly betraying their voters' principles they can maintain their hold on the party. Its time for the rest of us to learn this is all a strategy, not a mistake.

I am afraid I can't agree. The 8, along with Senate D leadership, did do their part: to demobilize grassroots energy that threatened their hold on the party. It wasn't a mistake, this who they are.

They won't have any choice if D's fight for it. They didn't want the ACA, Medicare or Social Security either.

Agree. The challenge is for those of us who are engaged to keep building power enough that we can't be marginalized.

The D leaders would rather lose to Trump than to their own base. By caving in now they are sucking the wind out of all progressive organizing in the party, to stop the influence of Mamdani, etc., which would challenge their power in the party.
