A massive artwork by PichiAvo, perhaps 20 meters tall by 8 meters across, displayed in the STRAAT museum of street art. The artwork depicts a Greek statue of a male nude with a big beard, with numerous grafitti tags in the background. The statue is rendered in a subtle rainbow of colors, while the background is mostly black, white, and gray. @hypnocub is standing in front of the artwork, looking tiny at this scale. Other colorful artworks are visible nearby, along the edges of the picture.

A large gate, with many colorful cloths and ribbons tied to it. This gate is part of the Crossbones graveyard, and people tie ribbons to the gate to remember their friends who have died. A woman who volunteers for Crossbones is lighting candles as part of a memorial ritual. In the background, @bootblackcub is looking up at the gate. A statue of an angel with spiky wings, seated on a pillar and looking calm and sad. It is in a corner of the Crossbones graveyard, and green ivy grows over the wall and part of the pillar. There is a small plaque on the wall nearby. The plaque next to the angel statue. It reads: Trans Angel. Trans-Angel was commissioned by The Outside Project as a permanent memorial sculpture to Trans-people who have died violently due to acts of transphobia. The sculpture was installed here for Trans Day of Remembrance, on November 20th 2022. Each year on this day, Trans people and their allies congregate at the sculpture for a reading and a ritualistic offering of candles and flowers to remember those who have died since the previous year. The number of (reported) deaths increases markedly. Year on year. Trans-Angel landed in the South-West corner of the park. The sun never reaches this corner. It shines from behind the sculpture, making a striking silhouette of the spikey wings. The sculpture is made of cement-fondu modelled on a skeletal steel armature. As the exposed steel continues to rust, the iron oxide will 'bleed' into the moulded cement. There are telling scars embedded in the body, and a steel tattoo embedded in the left buttock (have a look!). The figure itself appears strong and protective, yet at the same time calm and melancholic. Sculptor Svar Simpson and assistant Lola Lancaster, who created Trans-Angel, are both Trans. They have worked with tireless empathy towards its creation. They hope there will be future work on the adjacent column, and around the base of the plinth.

Wednesday afternoon and evening was for walking and exploration. I found a weird water fountain full of mechanical figures, and walked across a massive bridge over the Rhine river.

Last night, I arrived in Liège, Belgium, and today I’ve been sight-seeing a bit. I climbed the Montagne de Bueren staircase, and got some great views of the city! (And I did it all in one go, without stopping to rest once! Slow and steady, etc)

On Thursday, after seeing the Arc de Triomphe, I went to Notre Dame. The engineers did a wonderful job of rebuilding and restoring it — it’s pristine. It’s also FULL of tourists. There was a single path for the tourists to take, and it felt like being in a slow-moving river of selfies.

Last night, upon arriving in #paris, I got dessert at a cute cafe called “Le Paradis du Fruit”. Seemed somewhat appropriate 😂

Today is the opening day of #amsterdam #pride! I joined in the Pride Walk, a protest march that is all about visibility and political change. I mostly walked with the #fetish group, but I saw many of my friends in other groups, as well.
