I was in China a few years ago for the signing of a business deal. There was a Communist Party Representative at the table too. He demanded a “gift” from me before he would allow the official to sign. BLUF: No deal. This sounds similar.

We buy ketchup mustard mayonnaise and relish every 4th of July, ensuring the expiration date is a couple years away. We use a little bit and put it back in the fridge. Where it sits for a year. Then we throw it all away and buy new, always paying attention to the expiration dates. 🤦♂️

I wonder what kind of corruption is going on here. A few years back I tried doing business in Kunming China with a government agency & they wanted “a gift” of 200k cigarettes. I refused. I’m not doing business in China. We have a law against bribing foreign officials. So, something’s going on here.
