This action RPG is the first RPG I ever bought with my own money. I still think it was worth it! A game with a plot from the school of "post-apocalyptic future makes way for swords and sorcery," which was novel to my elementary schooler brain.

Or pronounced Valhalla, it's a combination of visual novel and bartending simulator set in a cyberpunk dystopia. Loaded with charming, flawed characters, it's a peek into the days of a bartender just trying make rent and live life.
I hope its sequel sees the light of day.

Probably one of the most unusual N64 games there is, Hybrid Heaven always fascinated me with its limb-centric RPG combat and character growth systems tied to an alien invasion conspiracy plot that's about two steps removed from later-day Metal Gear Solid.

I like baseball, and Baseball Stars is still one of the best baseball video games ever made. I played this on the NES with my brother a ton when we were kids, and the game is just so simple and fun to play while also letting you build teams from scratch.

It's nuts to think how arduous it was to see this get a North American release originally, but it's the one RPG I can recall playing to completion on three different platforms: the Wii, 3DS, and Switch.

I am a huge fan of Hatsune Miku and the songs made with her software. She got me through some of the roughest patches of my adult life. Project Diva F was the first of her rhythm games I played, and its tracklist is stellar, but that's to be expected of a Miku game.

I love Musou games. I have played most entries in most every series and subseries there is. But the first I ever played was Dynasty Warriors 3 way back in the early PS2 days. The series has changed a lot since then, but the appeal of fighting hundreds of dudes at once remains.

I first played FF6 back when I was about 13, and it had a stronger influence than most games on me back then. It probably had a stronger influence on me than any other game of that era other than Chrono Trigger with its cast and setpieces.

This is one of the most inventive RPGs I've ever played. The way the story's progress ties into the gameplay and the nature of its suitably operatic narrative just hit perfectly for me. The road to the game's best ending is particularly winding, but the execution is worth it.

I am a longtime fan of Fire Emblem, but Three Houses is easily my favorite. The gameplay is a mix of old and new concepts that hit a fun flow, but it's the world and characters that put it over the top for me.

Ouendan is an intense, hilarious rhythm game that's loaded with heart while acting as a parody of a form of cheerleading squad common in Japan. Most of the tracks are covers, but all of them are bangers.
Can you save the world from an asteroid via the power of cheering?!

This strategy game is unbalanced as hell, but you play a sorcerer vying for world domination. Master of Magic is probably the PC game I put the most time into back when I was a kid, and was one of the first strategy games I played in general.

Movie 1 is the best by far. Takashi Miike can turn a rote horror premise into something strange and entertaining.
Movie 2 is kind of nonsensical and tries to add new lore that doesn't go anywhere.
Movie 3 is a very bizarre cap to the trilogy.
